Mark your calendars!!! The Underwood Public Library is pleased to announce that it is partnering with the STAR Library Education Network and retired Underwood High School Astronomy teacher, Roger Britton, to provide an educational program and viewing of the solar eclipse this August. Mr. Britton will offer a short teaching and activity at 11:00am Monday, August 21st (two days before school starts) with the eclipse to start around 11:30am. Underwood will only see a partial eclipse of the sun, but it will be the coolest place to view the eclipse with NASA provided viewing glasses!

Free Fair Ride Bracelets
Kids ages 3 years- entering 3rd grade can earn a one-day unlimited rides bracelet for the McLean County Fair in Underwood. Check out 10 books from the library and complete our book reports -due June 16!
A staff member from Congressman Cramer’s Office will be available at the Underwood Public Library to assist individuals who are having difficulties with federal government programs.

Kids ages 5 and under (including babies) and their care givers are invited to a Valentine story time, Disney dance party, and cookie decorating at Underwood Public Library (88 Lincoln Ave.). Children and adults can dress “fancy”/ as their favorite Disney character for this event!

In celebration of the up-coming movie release of “Mockingjay: Part 2”, the Underwood Public Library will be hosting a Hunger Games movie trivia night and shooting gallery event. This event is scheduled for Friday, November 13th and is open to students in grades 6-12. Trivia will start at 6:30PM at the library. Trivia will be hosted on the Kahoot site. Students are encouraged to bring their personal smart phones or tablets to participate, but the library has a handful to loan out during the event. Shooting gallery will run from 7:15-8:00pm. Use the library’s rubber-tipped guns, bows and arrows to shoot the Peace Keepers and President Snow, but keep Katnis Safe! Hunger Games themed snacks will be provided.
The Underwood Public Library, in conjunction with the Northern Expressions Arts Council and the Go Loco For Local Chili Cook-off will be presenting a showing of “Carrie” (1976), starring John Travolta and Sissy Spacek! Join us at the City Hall gym at 8:30 on Friday, October 16th. This is an “R” rated show, so no one under the age of 15 will be admitted. Students ages 15-16 must have a parent present or a written note giving permission.
Bring your old (and not-so-old) photos, documents and items of North Dakota for inclusion in the Digital Horizons website and receive a copy to take home on a thumb drive, October 1st from 3-7PM. Schedule your appointment today! Librarians will also be on hand to answer any questions about mobile devices and introduce you to our e-books and other services for mobile devices.

June 30th- Historical Hero- Meriweather Lewis will travel from Fort Mandan to speak about his life and lead us in exploring activities
July 7th- Animal Hero- The McLean Co. Sheriff’s Department will bring a police dog and discuss its job.
July 14th- FREE Pizza and a movie day! Join us from 11:30-1:30PM as we eat pizza and watch a Disney movie about a dog hero!
Book Worm Book Club is open to kids entering 3rd-6th grade in the fall. Sign-up to participate at the library by June 24th and we will buy you a copy of “The 39 Clues: Maze of Bones” By Rick Riordan. Participants will meet at the library on July 30th from 6:00-8:30PM for book discussion, scavenger hunt and pool party at the Myron Schell Swimming Pool!
